This "WorcHistCent" you speak of visiting for the purpose of checking various registers, would there be a register for births occurring on "Stafford Street, Dudley" in 1862 ? Actually, I have the GRO certificate of the birth itself and under the column "When and where born" it says "20th Oct 1862 - Stafford Street, Dudley". It mentions the parents names but not their birthplaces, so perhaps what I should be asking is if there is a register of baptisms for the nearest church to that address in hope of discovering the father's birthplace on that? (Hopefully they were churchgoing.) If so then I have a request for your next visit, should you be willing. The child's name is Prudence. The mother is Eliza BILLS which the 1861 census places in her parents' home at Bumblehole, Netherton, Dudley (birthplace Tipton). And (my brick wall) the father is George TIMMS, birthplace "Oxfordshire" (per 1881 census). In 1862 he had the mobile occupation of "boat steerer journeyman." I need his birth town to continue.
