Hi Ian Thanks for your message. I was interested in Claines because a Charles William Morris was baptised there 27 Jan 1839. He may well be the convict I am looking for. His father may or may not have been a boatman. I don't know Worcestershire very well but have been looking at maps & see that Martley - where Eliza & her son Henry were in the workhouse in 1871 - appears to be only about 6 miles from Claines. I imagine the wife & child of a transported convict could easily have ended up in the workhouse, so this hypothesis looks quite hopeful. Regards, Ruth
