Hi Roy, Merry Vale (Merrivale) was in St Andrews. It's still on a 1960s map that I have, joining Broad Street where it meets All Hallows, so it's just across the river from St Johns. My Hale family ran the Glovers' Arms pub where Merryvale met Powick Lane, and the address varied according to which census it was on.
