Dear Lyn, Thankyou very, very much for todays Gallipoli photos (14), of Twelve Tree Copse and Lone Pine, with the photos of their names. I dont know what happened to the photos last week. Frank Ross (seconded to the Auckland Regiment) and Allan Gillingham (seconded to the Southland Regiment) were the only two fellows that I am aware of, that died in Gallipoli from the small coal mining town of Cobden, Greymouth, South Island, NZ. Details in the book "Bloody Gallipoli" by Richard Stowers. Your help has been greatly appreciated. Richard Poole ----------------------- Dear Richard could you please let me know if you have received the photos - my husband has sent them to you recently Kind regards Lyn _____ From: [email protected] To: lynedmonds; [email protected] Subject: Gallipoli visit Date: Thu, 27 Sep 2007 08:51:30 +1200 Good morning from New Zealand Lyn, If you are not undermined by requests, and happen to attend the 'Lone Pine Memorial' or the 'Twelve Tree Copse Memorial' at Gallipoli, I would be delighted if you could take photos of the two following graves/stones. 1. My mother's uncle: A(llan) Gillingham died 25.4.15 (Anzac day - for NZers and Aussies). He died storming the beach after leaving the ship 'Annaberg'. He is buried at Lone Pine Memorial (75). I assume (75) is a section of Lone Pine. 2. The only other Cobden born, West Coast, South Island, NZ, lad is Frank George Ross died 8.5.15 at Daisy Patch. He is buried at 'Twelve Tree Copse Memorial (11.1.8)' Some of the memorials are miles apart, so I will understand if you dont succeed. Have a nice, safe trip. Regards, Richard. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [ <mailto:[email protected]> mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Lyn Edmonds As part of my family history research we are visiting Gallipoli soon.
