    3. Hi Gus Many thanks. This is looking fairly promising. Although difficult to read, Matilda's older sister Mary Georgina was, in the 1861 census, said to be born somewhere which could possibly be Trimpley. If I assume Little Gains, as referred to by Gus, is the place for now, would someone please be able to tell me the nearest parish church which might be worth checking for records of the name WHATTON? 3. Hi Steven, The nearest CofE church to Little Gains - still not sure about Sutton! - would be Trimpley Holy Trinity Chapel Of Ease [consecrated in 1844 as an 'additional church' ] but as far as I know it was never an 'independent' CofE Parish. It *may* have maintained its own registers - or the entries might be incorporated in those of the Mother Church, Kidderminster St Mary. But there weren't many alternative CofE churches within "easy" walking distance. You could, perhaps, try Upper Arley, Wolverley, Kidderminster St John [Blakebrook] or St George. And you must also remember that there were probably a good dozen Nonconformist Chapels within the Civil Parish of Kidderminster...
