I am writing an essay for a study course, Family History in a Social Context, and am looking at this part of my family for one aspect of it. Could anyone tell me anything about this house / the housing of this street in 1861 to 1881period? The family were market gardeners and I'm trying to work out how well they were doing at it, what quality the housing would have been etc. One daughter of the family, Clara my great grandmother, left home to join the Salvation Army and was never spoken to again. I am trying to get a picture of what her life may have been like and what the family expectations for her may have been.
