    3. Hi Listers Looking again at some YARNOLD Wills, I find I'm a bit confused about the description of bedlinen. A 12GGA, Alice, is leaving various items to her children in 1588 and specifies pairs of 'hempton shetes, hurden shetes and flaxen shetes'. A variety of these is bequeathed to sons and daughters (along with a best and a second best feather bedde). Can somebody please explain the difference, please? I take it to mean that the flaxen ones are the best quality, the 'hempton' ones possibly less special and the hurden ('to harden') ones pretty grim. What do you think? BTW, if anyone is researching these names, I'd be delighted to hear from them:- YARNOLD, STOKES (four lines), NOTT, WOODWARD, LINTON also JONES and EVANS, although I need to boost my strength for those!!! Kind regards Joy
