Apologies for any cross posting, but just incase its of interest for the Worcester list, ahead of Guild of One Name Studies talk I'm helping support (I'm covering finding your names in local newspapers) at Solihull next Saturday, I've added new 26 Newspapers Transcripts - with a number more in the pipeline for March. These include 19 more editions of Berrow's Worcester Journal (various dates 1756, 1757, 1762, 1763, and 1771), a paper which offered country wide news reports, and featured advertisements from not only Worcestershire, but Gloucestershire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, etc The breadth of coverage was always excellent, and they collectively represent a great splash of 18th Century Georgian life Including : a Funeral which went wrong at Bury St.Edmunds; Methodists dancing in Wales; an Accident with a Barge line; a Diet Drink; the New State Coach; a Fish-Woman who packed quite a punch; a slip down a well; objections to the Syrens of Soho-Square; adverts for all sorts of construction materials which had gone "walk about" used for building Droitwich Canal, and more seriously a number of carriage guns that had also "rolled away"; what to make with truffles; a find of Coins during the demolition of old London Bridge; an attempted escape by Gabriel Savoy; a nasty worm in Dublin; the servants and family of Thomas Hall of Kingston upon Thames who avoid poisoning; and a Matrimonial Complaint by a rather Grumpy Old Georgian Man.
