Hi Win, I don't have access to Old Swinford records as late as 1832 so I can't help with William's siblings, but I'm wondering if you have the same man in all of the censuses (I'm assuming that you got the occupations from these). Paper hanging isn't especially skilled (although I still can't do it!), but tailor and cabinet maker are both very skilled occupations with no transferrable skills. I've seen men who were carpenters in one census and cabinet makers in the next - the second occupation being an extension or refinement of the first, but tailor and cabinet maker both needed long apprenticeships to learn totally different sets of skills. His occuaption appears to have been Tailor, Paper > Hanger, Cabinet Maker. He married an Ellen SMITH born about 1835 > Stourbridge. William's parents are shown as John COMPSON & Ann. > I wonder if this John COMPSON & Ann would be the marriage dated 25th > December 1818 in Halesowen or not?
