    1. [WOR] Witten
    2. Hi Everyone Trying to trace the Witten family of Old Swinford in particular anyone called Sergeant/Sarjant Witten. I have an ancestor from the Bristol area with this name and believe his family may have originated in the Old Swinford/Kingswinford area. The IGI index have a couple of matching names which, as its so unusual, would suggest a link. However the name appears to disappear after baptism. Does anyone know if this is because it gets shortened or changed to something. I know its of French origin but other than that nothing. Cheers Lennie
