Hello Jill, In 1871 Yardley was in the 'Ancient' County of Worcester - where it remained until 1911. BUT... For Census and Registration purposes it was in the Registration County of Warwick, as it was in Solihull Registration District. Confusing? Yes. But we have to assume that our Ancestors - and their Governments - knew what they were doing....
