Can you find any of the children and so get a birth certificate? Can you find a marriage to this other woman? > Family lore has it that John is supposed to have sailed to America > and later joined the Canadian Army. I had a similar story in my family that a cousin joined the Canadian Expeditionary Forces (true) and got married there (not proven). However I found that he'd died in England, a niece was the informant of his death. I've never been able to find this girl he was supposed to have married *but* I did find his dau who unfortunately died at the age of 10. The mother's name was completely different and I found my cousin's marriage to this other girl. He states he was a bachelor on the marriage certificate. I'm still no wiser about the Canadian girl he was supposed to have married and I don't know what happened to the girl he married in England. (That's the second wife I've "lost" when the husband's gone to or been in Canada!)
