Thanks Kay. Yes I have looked at marriages and can find nothing definite that fits in the 1891 or the 1901 census. I have even looked at Ellis Island and Castle Garden! There is little mention of her in the family. Her parents brought up her son who was born in Dorset in 1868. Only one family document mentions her and that as Bessie and I have looked at that name too. That document is a little confused. Also of course I have looked at other derivations of Elizabeth and her second name Mary. Should not have thought she would use her third name of Cox as her first name, but tried it! There is considerable interest in the family as to what happened to this elusive ancestor and having tracked her from birth to 1881 I would love to know what happened to her.
