    3. Eveline, The original of the 1881 record you quoted is written in a fairly clear hand and offers the following information about that household : 1881 Worcestershire, Worcester St Helen, District 8, Civil Parish of St Helen City of Worcester Municipal Ward of All Saints Parly Borough of Worcester Urban Sanitary district of Worcester at Nr 11 Friar Street BEDDALL Sarah Head widow 46 Charwoman Worcester do William son unm 18 labourer do do Samuel do do 15 do do do Arthur do 7 scholar do KNIGHT David father mar 78 Hawker London do Susannah mother do 67 Wolverhampton CROWLEY Daniel Boarder widr 72 scavenger Ireland Then the next house number immediately seems to leap to nr 20, abode of two Tripe Dressers called Latham, no link to the BEDDALL household. You say you have 1891; is that at South Claines, where he is an upholsterer of cabinets aged 24 at 7 St Stephen's Terrace, married to Jane 22 also from Claines with daughter Florence aged 1 b St Helen's? Well, he is the only one recorded as being from St Helen's in 1881, but there is also a Samuel BEDDALL b 1867 Netherton Worcester, bricklayer's servant, lodger, in Dudley Worcester, along with John and Noah BEDDALL who appear to be brothers. I'm afraid I haven't been able to find Sarah, William or Samuel from St Helen's in 1871 up to now, but then, who knows what spelling variation they might be under in that year.. I'll let you know if I do see anything, but you might be better off getting hold of the parish records somehow, to find a marriage for Samuel and Jane. 3. Thanks to Katie for her reply and to Ruth for sending the actual image. I was hoping for an easy answer, but it does look as though we will have to look at the marriage to find out exactly who Samuel's parents are. I think that I am right as he says St Helens. But who knows, perhaps he is.
