    1. [WOR] SARGEANT/WITTEN
    2. Hi Everyone I'm trying to find the descendants of the marriage of one Franics WITTEN (vars) and Sarah SARGEANT (vars). I have quite a few children from the Old Swinford registers but a gap inbetween (1679ish to 1684) Sarah appeared to have children at close and regular intervals so I'm pretty certain that there are some missing. I can't trace the marriage either tho' I expect that it might have been at Hagley where Sarah's, father was a Non-Conformist minister and about 1674ish. Would the missing births be on Non-Conformist registers tho' I've checked the NArchives online service and haven't found them? I might have expected them also to be at Hagley if they had been the first one or two but there are three 1676-1678 and then the rest between 1686 - 1697. Is there anyone out there that can help or advise? Thanks Lennie XX

Perhaps it's worth searching these registers too - I don't know what was going on at Old Swinford at the time but something was. There wasn't really many non-conformist churches about at this time as it had been illegal to be anything that wasn't C of E up until the Commonwealth, and even then Cromwell wasn't keen on allowing reform. Hope this helps. > -- Chris Pampling researching: BARRATT, DANCER, FELLOWS, GOODES, HOLDING, ROBINSON, TUCKLEY, WHEWAY, MAHER all in and around Birmingham/Smethwick, 1850 to present day PAMPLING Cambridgeshire - Sheffield, 1800 to present VARNDELL Wokingham - Birmingham, 1800 to present
