    3. Hello Elaine, I'd initially intended merely to ask you where "Park Hill" might be, as it's not a WOR Parish and (frankly) I'd never heard of it as a 'place' within WOR either, but swift dips into FamilySearch and the 1851 Census have at least partially answered it.... I see that the bulk of your information relating to Thomas BARBER and Mary comes [apparently only] from an Ancestral File produced by a William Edward NELSON of Utah, which details Thomas' baptism & parents; his marriage to Mary POWEL [giving no further details for her]; and his burial - which last entry at least places Park Hill in the Parish of Hanbury. Unfortunately this doesn't advance matters much, as there's no Park Hill marked or named on today's standard-scaled Ordnance Survey Maps at either 1:50,00 or 1:25,000, or my still-larger-scaled 'Street Map' of the County :-( But the "best fit" in today's terms would appear to be either Park Farm [by Middle Hill] or Park Hall Farm, almost on the Eastern edge of the Parish. So to the 1851 Census where they're to be found... 1851 Census - HO107/2046/604/59 Park Hill, Hanbury, Worcestershire Thomas BARBER Senr, Head, M, 58, M, Ag labourer, WOR, Shrawley Mary BARBER, Wife, M, 57, F, Ag Lab's Wife, WOR, Hanbury Eliza BARBER, Dau, -, 13, F, -, WOR, Hanbury But again doesn't add very much establishing that Tom Sr is extremely likely to be the Thomas baptised at Shrawley on 15 Sep 1793 [an Extracted entry], and that Mary *may* not've been born in Bishampton... However, on the previous page, and "next door" were: 1851 Census - HO107/2046/6034/58 Park Lane, Hanbury, Worcestershire Thomas BARBER Junr, Head, M, 33, M, Ag labourer, WOR, Hanbury Mary BARBER, Wife, M, 26, F, Ag Lab Wife, WOR, Bishampton Sarah Martha BARBER, Dau, -, 4, F, -, WOR, Feckenham Georg [sic] W[?] BARBER, Son, -, 2, M, -, WOR, Hanbury Mary Ann BARBER, Dau, -, 5m, F, -, WOR, Hanbury Which makes me suspect you may have confused the birthplaces of the two Marys. However, the "Enumerator's Route" rules out both the farms listed above, as his area was restricted to the North side of the former Turnpike Road between Droitwich and Feckenham, and the farms are on the South side of it [with Park Farm specifically included in the other Enumerator's area]. An examination of the 1880s OS 6" map doesn't show any likely hits either :-( So, no luck on the Place, but I think I may have found Mary POWEL's baptism from the details given in the 1851 - "Born Hanbury; age 57" - so [if true] she'd've been born 1793-94. The following extracted baptism looks good... Hanbury, 1794 Mar 30, Mary POWEL d/o James POWEL & Mary. I've not attempted to look for their marriage or to try to trace either of them further... Equally I've made no attempt to pursue Thomas Jnr's Mary from Bishampton, as this couple would seem to be off your line. As for George's Maria I've had little success. In 1851 they were living probably within about 10 minutes walk of my house, so had the question arisen then I could likely've gone and knocked on their door and asked. Unfortunately the birthplace given for her of "WOR, Redlands" is about as much help as her father-in-Law's Park Hill :-( However, in the 1861 - when they were in London - the answer at least made some sort of sense, in that it was given as "WOR, Rednal", which is a genuine place... As ever, though, it comes at a price... Rednal was a 'Location' that lay across the junction of the Old Parishes of Bromsgrove, Cofton Hackett, and Kings Norton - even today, and all within the District of Bromsgrove, the area has no Official Name...
