A couple direct you to the ENG-WORCESTER archives for 2002 when this query cropped up previously. Another directs you to the 1881 census for Kidderminster registration district, where Bloody Hole is actually listed as an address and yet another entry directs you to the website of a pub called the Black Boy, Bewdley, which refers to the Battle of Worcester in the Civil Wars when Charles II was defeated by Cromwell's forces, the battle ending just outside Bewdley in a valley known to this day as Bloody Hole. One of the entries in the ENG-WORCESTER archives offers the following instructions..... To view the location of Bloody Hole, Bewdley. I would suggest that you go to the web site http://www.old-maps.co.uk Type in the word Bewdley on the left hand side and click search. Double click on Bewdley Worcestershire Click the Left Brown arrow head. Do this three times in all Click on the enlarge number 2 Click the Down Brown arrow head once Bloody Hole can then be seen just above Bowcastle Farm Don't know whether this still works, since it was written some years ago! -- Roy Stockdill Genealogical researcher, writer & lecturer Newbies' Guide to Genealogy & Family History: www.genuki.org.uk/gs/Newbie.html "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about." Enter no surnames but a census reference search, using RG11 piece 2905, folio 64, page 30. Look at the families from BLACKWARD to WANKLING and you will see they are all listed at Bloody Hole, Bewdley. The previous entry is for Tanners Hill and the following one for Coppice Gate. The CD version of the 1881 shows the census district was Ribblesford. Surely this should enable you to pinpoint it? -- Roy Stockdill Genealogical researcher, writer & lecturer Newbies' Guide to Genealogy & Family History: www.genuki.org.uk/gs/Newbie.html "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about."
