Dear All, Thank you so much for all you have done. I should have pointed out that I have looked at all relevant censuses and I have seen the IGI records for Hanbury. But although I would like to believe that his father was Thomas, mother Ann, I believe the year 1820 is too early as only once did he tell census registrars he was born in 1821 - all the others he told them he was born in 1825/6 . I think that 1) the records are not comprehensive 2) he lied about his age . 3) he was illegitimate. It is a pity because he is the UR-Bishop of the maternal line . I tried to work out possibilities from name connections. He had children with names like George, John, Harriet, Sarah Ann, Charles, Thomas, and since the firstborn was a Harriet I wondered if his mother or aunt was one - as his wife's family to my knowledge did not have any Harriets. Also according to his first marriage certificate the father was put down as James. I think this might be a mistake as the first wife's father was James King. Where might I get more info re the births and marriages in Hanbury - but maybe they are not so relevant as his parents were prob seasonal labourers or hawkers travelling from place to place - indeed across counties like he did. Hi Stephen, These indexes may help:- BMSGH [Birmingham and Midland Society for Genealogy and Heraldry] have produced Marriages indexes for a number of counties. As you are out in Denmark you would need to pay for a search of these - go to http://www.bmsgh.org/search/sea1.html for the Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Birmingham indexes (initially £4, 4GBP). Malvern Family History Society have produced a Worcestershire County Baptism Index, now on-line as a pay service at http://www.fhs-online.co.uk/ . Enter George BISHOP in the multi-database search engine and you need page 12 of 40. There appears to be no 1825/6 baptisms. The Church of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) who created the IGI have 11 Family History Centres in Denmark. See http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp They probably made the originals of Hanbury, so for a fee will import a copy for you. That way you will be able to look at any potential siblings and other family links. (There were plenty of KING and KINGS in the vicinity so be sure you have the right one.)
