Peter, Like you I am on many Lists. No-one who uses the full facility of the Rootsweb Lists would want replies sent only direct to enquiring individuals. If messages were not sent to the List itself they wouldn't appears in the Archives which is a valuable asset in itself - obviously not known to all! Anyone can look back in the Archives to see if their particular query has been answered before or to check if details of a surname have been documented earlier. If all questions were answered direct to particular lone Listers there would be no information in the archives and we would all would be worse off.
