Dear All -- in the 1871 census, my great grandfather, Alfred HEMMING, of Worcester, was listed as a "builder, employing 12 men and 2 apprentices." His father, John HEMMING, had also been a Worcester builder. Does anyone know (1) if Alfred would have been apprenticed to his father (or anyone else) before striking out on his own? (2) if apprenticeship records still survive, and if so, where/how do I access them from my home in the western USA; and (3) if there would be any record at all of what buildings either of them had built, including, if possible, photographs -- any and all suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance Candace Weatherby, nee Hemming
