    3. Which Chadwell was he living in, Derek, as there are at least two contenders? Is it Chadwell Heath near Romford, or Chadwell St Mary in Thurrock? Or is there an area close to Maldon called Chadwell, which might match the death record? If there is, my other half, who has lived in Essex all his life, had never heard of it, but it could be an old name for a particular area around there. Did you know that some of the parush records for the Medway parishes are available via Cityark. These are scans of the original registers, and not easy to search. Dartford registers are available, but not Sheerness or Canterbury. May be worth a look. A lot of folk from Kent moved over to the Thurrock area in the late 1800s, including my husband's family, What did your William do for a living?
