Hi listers, All the best for the up coming year to you all I’m wondering if someone out there may be able to shed some light on my paternal 3 x Great-grandfather and his family John WELCH/WELSH and his wife Mary POWER. I’ve managed to piece together, John was baptised 1 Dec 1793 Old Swinford Worcestershire, Son of James WELCH and Phoebe PARTRIDGE They married at Halesowen Worcestershire on 29 Oct 1826 I’ve only ever been able to locate 2 children, but I feel that there’s probably more. Phoebe WELCH bap: 18 Feb 1827 at Old Swinford my 2 x Great-grandmother married Richard GRIFFITHS on 26 Aug 1849 at Holy Trinity Old Swinford Sarah WELCH bap: 17 May 1829 at Old Swinford 1841 he was living at Angel St Stourbridge with wife Mary and daughters Phoebe,Sarah and he was a shoe maker 1849 his occupation was given as thread weaver on his daughter Phoebe’s marriage certificate 1851 still at Angel St Stourbridge with wife Mary and daughter Sarah and still shoe maker 1856 Dec qtr. wife Mary dies at Stourbridge 1861 30 Angel St Stourbridge with daughter Sarah and Sarah has a 4 year old son John and still shoe maker 1871 Stourbridge Union Work House Shoe maker 1871 Dec qtr. death at Stourbridge The only thing I’ve managed to locate on his wife Mary POWER bap 12 Oct 1792 at Kidderminster Worcester daughter of Thomas POWER and Sarah no other children located or marriage details death: Dec qtr. 1856 Stourbridge I’ve located what might be John & Mary’s daughter Sarah in the 1871 Census in Worcester John WELSH Head labourer born Hereford Sarrah [sic] Ann Wife born Stourbridge John Son and a few more siblings. born Stourbridge I haven’t been able to locate a marriage for a Sarah WELCH to a John WELSH and their son is listed as aged 24 and a labourer, but he should only be 14. Can anyone assist in shedding any light on this family group, whether there was more than 2 daughter and if I’m on the right track with their daughter Sarah and grandson John Happy Days, John in Newcastle Australia
