    3. Thanks to those of you who replied to my Hodgetts question. Country wide it is not a common name, the trouble is that about 90% of people with the name came from Worcestershire and the area south and west of Birmingham. So the families are almost common in that area. For anyone else interested in the name I have added to the small amount I had on my website and most of what I have is now there. Note that some of it requires checking. www.wedmore.org.uk/stone/jones/hodgetts.htm Regards, Geoff Geoffrey T. 3. My family of HODGETTS were Worcestershire farmers. Gt Grandfather Joseph HODGETTS b 1827 at Long Lane Farm, Halesowen, later moved to Hasbury Farm, Halesowen. My Grandfather, Charles Hodgetts b 1865 and wife Catherine Emma Homes, started his own farming career at Lodge Farm, Frankley ( where my father Ernest Homes Hodgetts was born 1893) later moving briefly to Battlefields, Bromsgrove before settling for many years at Stoke Court Farm, Stoke Prior where he was a specialist in pedigree cattle and was a cattle dealer. He died in 1937 a well-respected and and succesful man, and is buried at Bromsgrove church. I have had contact in the past with Stephen Kelsey regarding the Homes family. There continue to be several descendants of this family still farming in Worcestershire today although my branch moved into other activities. regards Elizabeth Booth (nee Hodgetts).

I have had wonderful help with Mary Ann's husband's family .... the KELSEY family from Broadwas (many thanks to Ruth .. ) ... just like what we all have here in SA on our lists. I have also had wonderful help on this family (she was married previously to Henry STOKES m 1853) from the Kelsey side to fill in the tree but wondered if anyone has concentrated on the DRINKWATER family specifically and could help me further. 3. Stephen, From the Hugh Wallis site, here's the periods covered by the online IGI batches for Hanbury. Hanbury C021222 1577-1715 E021221 P021221 1716-1875 M021221 1577-1754 So you'll see if he was truly christened there, the record should be online. However, it's a different story for marriages, where it doesn't look like you'll find his parents. If you look at the later christening batch, there are only three Bishop records. All seem to be to different parents. That suggest the surname isn't common to the area or they simply didn't have children christened. I presume you obtained his birth year and location from census records. I'd suggest you compare data from more than one census. I'd also see if he was in Hanbury in 1841 and who he resided with. 3. Hi Stephen, These indexes may help:- BMSGH [Birmingham and Midland Society for Genealogy and Heraldry] have produced Marriages indexes for a number of counties. As you are out in Denmark you would need to pay for a search of these - go to http://www.bmsgh.org/search/sea1.html for the Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Birmingham indexes (initially £4, 4GBP). Malvern Family History Society have produced a Worcestershire County Baptism Index, now on-line as a pay service at http://www.fhs-online.co.uk/ . Enter George BISHOP in the multi-database search engine and you need page 12 of 40. There appears to be no 1825/6 baptisms. The Church of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) who created the IGI have 11 Family History Centres in Denmark. See http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp They probably made the originals of Hanbury, so for a fee will import a copy for you. That way you will be able to look at any potential siblings and other family links. (There were plenty of KING and KINGS in the vicinity so be sure you have the right one.)
