Many thanks to Liz and Jacquie who helped to find the location of Caddick End. Your help is greatly appreciated. Jayne
The presumption would seem to be Astwood Road Cemetery - although by 1880 I believe it would've been open for roughly 20 years. I can certainly look in its registers on my next trip to Worcester History Centre. BTW, there was no James PITT of the right age in the 1851 WOR Index, the nearest being 1) a 15-year-old butcher's apprentice, born Kingswinford, recorded as a 'servant' with a Joseph PITT (an uncle???) in Dudley [2033/49/161] 2) a 12--year-old scholar, born Kidderminster, a boarder at Oldswinford Hospital (a boarding school) Gus ----- Original Message ----- From: Leith Friend <leithfriend@xtra.co.nz> To: <ENG-WORCESTER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, April 17, 2005 11:00 PM Subject: [WOR] James PITT Buried New Cemetery, Worcester > > Is there any list or KS that has an ancestor James PITT who was buried in > New Cemetery wherever that is ? Looking for more information on : Harriet Walton b. 1825 Astwood Bank, Wor she married (1852 Martley?) unknown Shilton they had: Edmund b. ~1856 Birmingham, War. Helen b. ~1858 " Henry b. ~1862 Astwood Bank, Feckenham, Wor Florence b. ~ 1864 " Gertrude M b. ~ 1868 Feckenham Harriet is buried with her parents near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She died 1882.Her death information from the cememtery has her listed as Skilton, but all census I found listed them as Shilton. Her last surviving parent died in 1872, so I am not exactly sure why she was over in the US. She did have a brother in Philadelphia. Her children, however, seem to have stayed behind. I cannot find her husband- she is listed as married on the 1871 Yardley, Wor. census. I have found Henry (age 21 living as a lodger in Birmingham, Helen(a) and her husband and her sister Gertrude living in Edgbaston, War. in 1881. I have found only Gertrude (still single) on the 1891 living in Edgbaston and then only Helen(a) and her husband Albert Whitehead - living in St. Martin, Birmingham in 1901. Anyone out there??? Thanks -Diane in Pennsylvania

Hi Jayne I've searched everything I can think of to find a Caddick End in Dudley but to no avail. A very wild guess - perhaps it's the name of a house? One suggestion have you found them in Dudley on the 1841 census at all - that might be worth a look. Otherwise I think you need the advice of someone with a lot more knowledge of the area than I have - which is practically non-existant! Thought I'd give it a go for you anyway sorry I can't be of more help Liz ----- Original Message ----- From: <Jaynerutland@aol.com> To: <ENG-WORCESTER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, April 15, 2005 10:49 AM Subject: [WOR] Caddick End > Hello > I have a marriage certificate dated 1839 and the bride and groom both > give their residence as Caddick End Dudley. Hello June, in 1871 they are called Mann and living in Shelton Staffs; Camelia 11 Eli 32 Hannah 3 Mary Ann 32 Susan 14 William 1 Will send image off list. Best Wishes from Linda.
The Archives have 1871 census online,Free to look at,but you have to pay, like the 1901 to view details,What I did find on there is that Candia is an unusual name, yet there is a Candia Munn aged 55 in Worcestershire on there.
