    3. Hello again Jean, I have discovered from my disk that Feckenham administratively came under Warwickshire for the 1851 census, it says it was in the registration district of Alcester. I've checked on my OS disk and Grafton and Feckenham are only about 5 miles apart so it's not a great distance for them to have moved. The son was born after 1851, so if he was born in Feckenham they're still there. I had another look at Grafton Flyford on the census, and there is a farm called Hill Court Farm which was then 209 acres so it's possible the name got changed. I have also discovered a John Young who is a farmer in Flyford Flavel, doesn't say how many acres or give the name of a farm. May be no connection, but it's possible one of yours came from a farming family. It looks like the answer lies on the Warks census! Good luck! Vivien

The reference is:- Marriage in St Mary's Church, Tenbury, Worcs Dec 27th 1849 Spouses William Powell and Harriet Powel. The rest of the information is not readable and I would like to know the following, if possible:- Residences at time of marriage, bothe father's names and the names of the witnesses. My thanks in advance. Colin Byfleet North Devon

    1. Re: [WOR] Windsheilds Factory Barbourne, Vinegar Works Barbourne,

    3. Hi Sharon, I assume you're working from a 25" map - and (guessing) that it dates from around 1935-50. In the 1940s Worcester Windshields' main factory was at the Eastern end of Gregorys Mill Street (and may have extended down the East side of Raglan Street - but being on the 'wrong' side of Droitwich Road it was a bit off my patch). The company made aircraft windscreens etc during the war - or at least its subsidiary(?) Airscreens did - at the top of the Northwick Road (the only known source of decent rubber for making catapults...) I don't recall a vinegar works, but certainly "Corona" Soft Drinks had a bottling plant in the former Allen's Brewery - so perhaps a smallish vinegar-works could've operated in another part of the site. Robert Allen & Sons disappeared into Banks's around 1930. The Barbourne Inn was probably Allen's "Brewery Pub" - it's evidently been there a Long Time, as it was a purpose-designed pub with an Assembly Room upstairs if memory holds. You might try the 1:500 maps of the mid 1880s (around 10 feet to the mile) that are held as reduced copies in Worcester History Centre - who also hold the 25" Revision of c.1905 - to give a longer perspective. 3. To Jean B, I can't find any trace of Henry with those spellings on the Worcs 1851, or with anything similar. I had a look around the Grafton Flyford area and nothing similar. tried to look at Feckenham but it didn't appear under Worcs, not far from Warks border so maybe it comes under that County. Vivien

It is a main road in Worcester leading roughly south from the cathedral taking traffic to/from both the London road and the Bristol road. Some properties around in 1829 are still in existence today, but not many. What is the address, next time I pass (during the next month) I'll try to find it and photograph it for you.
