I have a query regarding a baptism recorded at Areley Kings in 1763 and another in 1766. The records are in the registers at Areley kings with a note at the end of the relevant line "done at Hawford". The only Hawford I can locate is near Worcester. Is there a property or was there a hamlet near Areley Kings in the period called Hawford Regards Bob Millman Strathpine Qld

Hello all I have an Edward / Joseph Taylor who stole a horse in Upper Sapey early 1800s. The owner of the horse was Mr Seward. Edward Taylor was tried in Worcestershire. To find out more about Taylors presuming they were in Upper Sapey should I look in Worcester, Hereford or Birmingham, which is closest? Many thanks, Janice Taylor Researching: Taylor, Armstrong, Wainwright, Wall, Martin, Chaplain, Hannabus

Hi Gwynne, From a male Gwynne to a female Gwynne! You said; > > My husband's ALLENDER ancestors wandered about a lot in the 19th century. They went from Worcs - Glocestershire - Monmouthshire - Shropshire - Aston (Warks) - Sheffield and back to Mon. All of them were forgemen or connected in some way with the iron or steel industry. > Although I don't have any connection with the ALLENDER name, I know a lady in Canada who is researching that name. I believe her line includes a John or James ALLENDER, born 1794, Christened at Aston Juxta Warw. One branch of the family of iron workers, lived all the 19th century at Eardington forge, just South of Bridgnorth in Shropshire. My involvement has been in providing all the local census transcriptions of the family and some Monumental Inscriptions. Would you like me to contact the Canadian lady on your behalf? Gwynne. Hello Gwynne, The likely place was Wilden Ironworks - which is now (I believe) the site of Wilden Industrial Estate on the East side of the River Stour about a mile North-East of the centre of Stouport on Severn. But I know nothing of the works, beyond the fact that there used (*many* years ago) to be an arm off the Staffs & Worcs Canal with a lock that led boats down to the River to serve the works. Hello, I'm a new sibscriber to this list but am a member of several other lists. My husband's ALLENDER ancestors wandered about a lot in the 19th century. They went from Worcs - Glocestershire - Monmouthshire - Shropshire - Aston (Warks) - Sheffield and back to Mon. All of them were forgemen or connected in some way with the iron or steel industry. Several of them married in Kidderminster but had their children baptised in Hartlebury. Can anyone with local knowledge tell me why this may be? I can also find nothing via google about the iron and steel industry in Hartlebury can anyone recommend a book which would enlighten me? Thanks for reading, Gwynne

First of all I have the 1851 census for Worcester and I would like to know if Alfred REA in on the 1841. His father James REA was at Sidbury in 1829 and on the 1851 census. Is it possible to look up Sidbury on the 1841 and tell me if Alfred was on that census please. I believe his mother died in 1829. He would have been 19 or 15 on the 1841. Second request is can anyone tell me where I would go to get a will for 1852 for Worcester. James REA was buried at Peter the Great in June 1852 and I would like to get a copy of his will. Thank you. Joan in Devon
