Hi all, I'm trying my luck again on my GOODYEAR line. Does anyone have access to 1851 census for All Saints Worcester WOR that can tell me if there is a John GOODYEAR living there, abt 21 yrs old, born Yeovil SOM, occupation baker? Thanks very much, Sincerely, Evelyn Seeburger seeburger@hsfx.ca
Hi John, Saunders Street was/is "up the Ombersley Road", and roughly opposite the Northwick Cinema (of happy memory, but fallen now on Hard Times). Runs from Pinkett Street to Northwick Road. Must be 50 years since I went along it, though. In Claines Parish (but *possibly* in St Stephens after 1862). Hello, Does anyone know of a BAKMAN(male) RICHARDSON (female) marriage? Is someone out there familiar with SAUNDERS STREET WORCESTER? many thanks John Eaton Socon
Hi I have ancestors whose address was the Paper mill Web Heath which is part of TARDEBIGGE, which is between Bromsgrove and Redditch, this is on the boarders between Worcestershire and Warwickshire. The paper mill was I believe to be close to Hewell Kennels. If you go to http://www.old-maps.co.uk/ and enter Tardebigge then scroll across and down to below the lake, you should just be able to read Lodge, then select enlarged view you will see the location of the paper mill. I have not done any research into the mill. Could anyone tell me where I might find information on where there were paper mills in 1820 to 1839? "For what it's worth" ... The Parish of Dodderhill - slightly North and East of Droitwich - included an 'old' Extra-Parochial Area called 'Paper Mills' that had a brief life as a separate Civil Parish between 1858 and 1884 before being amalgamated within Dodderhill. It presumably lay at the end of today's 'Paper Mill Lane' to the West of the A38 in Wychbold, and almost directly opposite to the BBC Radio Transmission Towers. But whether, when - or even if - there was was a paper mill there I don't know. It would seem probable, though, as the area was exempt from local taxes, which could make sense for such an important manufacturing facility. Rosalie I have been looking for more information on a man who had a paper mill on the banks of Leigh Brook near Alfrick in Worcestershire. He may be an ancestor of mine. There is a paragraph about him in a book I have called Pictures of Nature by Edwin Lees. It describes him as a poor Welshman with a large family whose business failed and he emigrated to Australia to search for gold. My family name is Jones, but he is not named in the book. Let me know if you think there is a connection. Hi I am looking for someone to do a lookup for me I am not sure where? It is a family member in 1846 gave Birth to a child and has also on his Birth, she was a single woman. The child is : Frederick HURDMAN, Born 1846, Claines, Worcester. I am looking for the Petty Sessions about 3 weeks after the Birth. Or in the Newspapers will reveal the Fathers name. The Mother is Susan HURDMAN, she was Born about 1826 and say her Father is John HURDMAN, Labourer. She was in Jail in the 1851 census as she worked as Gloveress, and stole some gloves and got 12 months Hard labour. The Son Frederick was put into a Workhouse at St. Martin, Worcester. Susan Also stated she was Born in Donnington, War, But sometimes when people say Worcs it sounds like Warks. If anybody would be able to help me with this family I would be very grateful as I just dont know where to look anymore. There was a small Presbyterian book that Frederick had benn given to him .Inside it has written : To Frederick Hurdman, from his Grandmother, Maria BELTON, 1866, Blyborough. The is only one Blyborough I can find and that is in Lincolnshire. can anyone offer me please some advise about solving this family. This family Immigrated to New Zealand and this book is still in the family today. Thanks you, Noeline in Brisbane

Hi Martin Nearly passed over your email and suddenly realised that two marriages away from my ancestors other lines was a Dedicoat. Elizabeth DEDICOAT born about 1812. I don't know where she was born, but was married in Yardley; and lived and died in Kings Norton. She married Isaac CLULEE in 1832 in Yardley. Did you know that if you put Weatheroak Hill into Google and go to the IMAGES section there is a picture of the pub. Hello All, I have now added a further 50 graves for Bredon and also added the first batch of graves for Bromsgrove which I know quite a few of you have been waiting for. Most of the Bromsgrove graves date back to the 1700s so may help to knock down some brick walls. BFN Sally www.parishmouse.co.uk
Hello, This is a request for general information. I plan to visit the area of Weatheroak Hill sometime next year. My grandfather immigrated to Canada approx. 100 years ago. I would like to visit the area, including the Coach and Horses and the Peacock Inn, both of which were owned by descendents well over 100 years ago. Could some kind soul tell me if flying from Canada to Birmingham would be the best route. Also time of year, spring or fall? I would also try to visit Derbyshire as it seems the Martin family may have originated from that area. I have accumulated information on the family and by next year hopefully will be able to make the most of my time in the area. Thank you in advance for any suggestions. M. Hilderley (Martin)
