    3. Hi Sheila, I couldn't find Elizabeth on the Worcs 1851 census. I checked the whole census for people born in Wales but there was no Elizabeth Nicholl. Also tried variants (Nichol, Nicholls, etc). Regards from Malcolm Platt-Grigg. 3. Hi Kathy Here's the link I think you need for Frederick BUNN's baptism - in Berrow, Worcs. Christened 21st January 1827 Frederick BUNN. Parents George and Letitia. (There are numerous other children before this baptism - I didn't check for any more after Frederick). http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~wragg44/berrow/berrowbapt7.html Had already sent this message once, but doesn't seem to have gone through. Looks as if Malcolm has found him for you on the 1851 census. Barbara

    3. HelloEverybody, Is there SKS with access to the 1851 census for Worcestershire please? I'm looking for FREDERICK BUNN b 1823 BERROW Worcs. or LEDBURY Herefordshire ( depending on which census you believe) who is a carpenter on the 1861 to1901 censuses. I have information that his family used St Clements or All Saints Worcester for their Baptisms and Marriages. I'm afraid that I don't have his parents names. Thanks for any help Kathy BUNN,MERRICK

    3. Dear all, A couple of people (Sarah, Carolyn) have written to me about John Cooksey's book "Brickyards of the Black Country - A Forgotten Industry, Refractories" published in 2003. It is very much about Stourbridge, and also Cradley. It is not available from commercial bookshops as far as I am aware. It can be obtained from John himself, and David has pointed us all to http://www.harrisandpearson.info/brickmanuf2.htm where it is mentioned and this link gives John's home phone number. Alternatively, I know that it is obtainable from Cradley branch Library in Colley Lane, telephone 01384 812885; details of opening hours etc. are on Dudley Council's web site at http://www.dudley.gov.uk/leisure-and-culture/libraries/find-a-library and select Cradley/More info. Also, it may be available for sale from Coseley Archives who can be emailed at archives.centre@dudley.gov.uk I hope this helps. Nigel Brown

    3. Hi all, I know I have been on this list before but this family is really getting to me as I can't seem to find anything to do with this family other than this. When a member of the family was asked a question where was she Born she said Dunnington, Wars. Now I take it this could also have been WORCS. It all depends how it was how it was said. And seeing it was years ago I am trying both areas like before hoping someone out there might have abit of info. Susan HURDMAN, Born abt 1815-1825 was in Jail for stealing Gloves. The jail was in Worcester. She also had a Son out of wedlock in 1846 and he was 4yrs at the time while she was in jail. This child was in a workhouse in the 1851 census and was 4yrs old at the time when she was in Jail. His name was Frederick HURDMAN, Born 1846 , Claines Twything, Worcester. It is on the Mormans IGI. Susan has alo written down her Father was John HURDMAN, Labourer. I cant find any info regarding this or even her Birth,Christn etc. I was wondering if the 1841 census would help. Would anyone have that?I am getting desperate as I have been looking for this family for along time. There must be some other info than what I have. Susan Married Thomas MAYERS (Meyers) in Norfolk after she came out of Jail which she got 12 months hard labour. They both Immigrated to New Zealand. If anyone here could help me I would be so grateful as i just can't get anywhere with this at all???? Thanks, Noeline in Brisbane

    3. Hi Noeline, the 1841 Census is not indexed, it would mean searching hundreds of images. I did have a look at the 1851 Census which is Indexed, there were a few Hurdman families around Evesham and Droitwich, and a John born 1814, Farm Labourer at Martley. I would try and find Susan on all Census entries, that should give you some clues as to where she was actually born. Then it is a case of searching the Parish Records, unless you can track down any family Wills. Hope this helps. Best Wishes from Linda.

    3. Good evening listers I am new to this list and wonder if SKS could help me. I have put my family research on the back burner to try and help my mother-in-law's brother with his family research. Their family name is STEYNOR which I believe is quite an unusual spelling. There is a STEYNOR AVENUE in DRIOTWICH and I should be very grateful if anyone could let me know who the Avenue was named after. Many thanks Lis from Salisbury UK mainly researching: Hutt, Emberson, Feeney, Lerch, Batten, Steynor, Almeroth, Wrede.

    3. Hi All I am forwarding the below from another list as it may be of interest to listers Mike Fisher Wythall,WOR One-Place Genealogical Study http://freepages.history.rootsweb.com/~wythallindex/index.htm Just in case you haven't heard The English and Welsh 100-year census closure rule was abolished by Parliament in 2000, when it passed the Freedom of Information Act. From 1st January 2005, family historians from anywhere in the world can apply for Freedom of Information Act copies of the 1911 or 1921 census for England & Wales. The facts have been kept a closely guarded government secret for 5 years. To find out whether you or your MP have been conned by ministers since 2000, just look for a mention of Lord Chancellor's Instrument No.12 (1966) in any official letter on the 1911 Census that you have received. If the letter doesn't mention the abolition of the 100-year census closure period, you're probably the victim of government deception. For FREE advice on getting your own Freedom of Information Act copy of the 1911 Census, visit our Home Page. Don't believe any of them. Before we supply advice, we would be grateful if you would provide your full name and postal address, the name of your MP or Senator or Representative and a sentence that we could publish about this 5-year old government census secret. We won't disclose your personal details to anyone.

    3. Hello John, You might have a minor problem here - for The Blockhouse was an Extra-Parochial Area... "Old" St Paul's church - which covered it - wasn't consecrated until 1845.
