This is the one! my Samuel was born abt 1813, so it is not too far out! I reckon he would have been 28 in 1841. This is deinately my 2 x gt grandfather as shortly after the 1841 census took place, he moved to Halifax, West Yorkshire and was a compositor with a newspaper. I do have a bapt., certificate for his brother John, which reads: April 5, 1818 - John, son of Joseph Harris (victualler) and Mary, at Old Swinford. I have been working at this one for years and never been able to crack it! Thanks so very much. Kind regards Kathy Witheridge Ontario, Canada
I received a an email from them yesterday saying that it was coming soon and it also said it on the site today. They are working on the database 8860 as last night as there was an error but it said it was the 1851 census England now it is an "unknown" database, if it's a number that doesn't have database it just gives an error. 8861 was 1851 Wales 8862 was 1851 channel islands 8863 was 1851 isle of man Mike in Droitwich ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nicholas Fitzpatrick" <nfitz@sentex.ca> To: "Wythall Index" <wythallindex@btinternet.com> Cc: <ENG-WORCESTER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, October 12, 2005 7:52 PM Subject: Re: [WOR] Ancestry.com 1851 census??? > > > On Wed, 12 Oct 2005, Wythall Index wrote: > >> Yes it was taken off yesterday evening >> >> Mike Fisher in Droitwich > > Am I imagining things, or did I receive an e-mail from > Ancestry announcing this? My ancestor, William Beach, was born in Evesham in 1784-1785 and married there in 1805-1809. Those years appear to be missing from the parish transcripts for Evesham as filmed by the Family History Library. Can anyone tell me whether records remain from Evesham in that time period and how to find them? Thanks a lot, Walt in Florida.
Hi List After having received the link to the 1851 census on Ancestry.com (it isn't yet available via the main index page) I have now found that I cannot access the 1851. Has it been removed? Is there another link? Jules
I am having a terrible time trying to find the birth/bapt., for my 2 x gt grandfather, Samuel HARRIS, born in Stourbridge abt 1813. I have a bapt., certificate for his brother, John HARRIS, bapt., at Old Swinford on April 5, 1818, son of Joseph HARRIS, victualler and Mary. I did find a Joseph and Mary HARRIS in the 1851 census, as follows: Kingswinford, Worcs HARRIS, Joseph head 68 Nail Maker Lye, Worcs HARRIS, Mary wife 62 Stourbridge HARRIS, Harban? son 25 Pedlar? Kingswinford HARRIS, Ellen dau 17 Kingswinford I am really unsure about this one, as it does not include either Samuel or John Harris. However, after saying that I know that Samuel Harris was living in Halifax, Yorkshire, by 1851 where he was a compositor with a newspaper. Might someone have the 1841 census or bapt., records for 1813 in the Stourbridge area? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards Kathy Witheridge Ontario, Canada

To Lists, I want to thank all of you who have helped me for several years trying to find Lois Astons birth date and place. Finally I asked British Ancestors to find it for me and Carol did just that. Most of you will remember I was almost positive she was born in 1852 because she was not with the family on the 1851 census, I was wrong. Some will remember she had a sister born 1850 (Lydia) and couldn't find Lois after that. To make a long story short I am putting the information here for those who might be researching the ASTONS or the BIBEYS. Registration District - Monmouth Sub-district of - Coleford Counties of - Gloucester When Born - 7 November 1849 Where Born - West Dean Name - Lois Sex - Girl Name and surname of Father - James ASTON Name surname and maiden name of Mother - Eliza Aston formerly JOHNSON Occupation of Father - Woodcutter Description and residence of informant - The mark of X Eliza Aston- Mother- West Dean When registered - 19 December 1849 I had sent to all Lists earlier but forgot that I had unsubscribed while I went on vacation and didn't subscribe back. It just dawned on me why I didn't get my e-mails returned today. It takes awhile for us old people. Anyway, thanks to all. Alice California

Colin, It is the British Origins website: http://www.originsnetwork.com They are slowly putting the 1841census and index on line. Staffordshire & Worcestershire have already been done. It is a pay site unless you are a member of the SOG in which case you have 72 hours free access every quarter.
