    1. Re: [WOR] EMMA BOURNE 1861/1871 lookup please
    2. Dave Annal
    3. I think there are two 'mistakes' on the 1861 entry: 1) Sarah is described as John's daughter whereas she was actually his 'wife' 2) I think she was actually called Maria not Sarah The 1871 entry shows the family as follows: John HILL (40) - Head Maria BOURN (37) - Wife Eliza BOURN (15), Ann BOURN (8), Maria BOURN (7), Kate BOURN (5), John BOURN (1) - no relationships given for any of these children RG10/3212 f.10 p.11 In 1881 we find: John HILL (48) - Head Maria HILL (46) - Wife Maria HILL (17) - Daughter John HILL (11) - Son Kate E PRITCHETT (9) - Grand Daughter RG11/2943 f.98 p.22 This last entry clearly proves that this is the right family - however, Kate was before Emma married James PRITCHETT and her birth is registered as Kate Elizabeth BOURNE (Mar q. 1872, Alcester 6d 618). 3. Looking for info on EMMA BOURNE prior to her marriage to James Pritchatt in Kings Norton in 1875. In 1881 they were living in the parish of St Thomas, Birmingham. James was from Birmingham, don't know if Emma moved there on marriage or before. 1881 entry : Emma(Elizabeth) age 29 born Redditch, Worcester. There are two boarders living in the household, Harriet Bourne age 28 and Annie Bourne age 19 both born Redditch. I presume they are relatives. 1891 entry : Emma age 39 laundress born Worcestershire-Trekenham. Can't find a Trekenham, wonder if it should be Feckenham( have only seen transcription and incidentally the family name has been wrongly transcribed as Pritchart). I'm not sure whether I should be looking in Worcestershire or Warwickshire. Hope some kind person can help me out. 3. Thank you to everyone for the bits of information supplied, they're a great starting point and I shall check out the websites / books suggested and I'll use some of the information for my essay. Unfortunately travelling to Evesham for research in person isn't an option at present. To BOB NEW - the COLES family I'm studying are JOSEPH (born 1845) and ELIZA (born 1842) who would be my great great grandparents. ELIZA 's maiden name was GROVE but I don't know of a Susan in her family as yet. I do have a couple of Charles Coles', what birth / death dates do you have for yours? Best wishes to all, Pippa, Brighton

I have the censuses / facts / dates about the family but I'm really looking for some Evesham local / social history to put these people into a mental "picture"; e.g. the style or construction of housing they lived in, which other religions / denominations were growing / under threat at the time. For several years I have been trying to find the parents and siblings of my gggggrandfather Thomas Jarvis. A National Archives document shows him apprenticed as a cordwainer to a William Buller in 1743 at Armscott, near Tredington which was then in Worcestershire with his fathers name given as Thomas also. >From this information and that held on apprenticeships it seems that Thomas would have been born between 1722 and 1729. Although it is known that he married, established a cordwainer business, raised a family and died at Ebrington in Gloucestershire, several searches in that county have found nothing. Although some information has been found on his descendents in South Warwickshire searches there have again found nothing. I have now found a record showing the christening of a Thomas Jarvis at All Saints Church,Evesham 23rd October,1687. Can anyone suggest how I can best follow this up. I would also like to hear from anyone researching Jarvis. Any help/guidance much appreciated. Regards. Colin Jarvis. ------------------------------ To contact the ENG-WORCESTER list administrator, send an email to [email protected] To post a message to the ENG-WORCESTER mailing list, send an email to [email protected] __________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word "unsubscribe" without the quotes in the subject and the body of the email with no additional text. 2. Joy Hungerford
    3. Hi Listers I've been doing some research on my NOTT family, including my 3GGF, William, who unfortunately for research purposes, married Hannah JONES, 1807, in Worcester. Even though their names have been tousled by various enumerators, I managed to find that William and Hannah were i/c of The Fox Inn, Bransford Bridge, William until he died in 1843 then Hannah until she died in 1852. Their daughter, Charlotte, who married James SIMMS, took over. This couple had no children, but adopted Charlotte's niece, Charlotte Rosannah, whose parents and three brothers died when she was about six. Charlotte's other brother, William, and his wife, died in 1848 and 1850 respectively, leaving five orphan children. Charlotte died in 1886 and niece, Charlotte R with her husband, John EABORN, ran the pub at least until 1891. I'd now love to find out more about 3GGM, Hannah [JONES], but where to start? I think she was born in Alfrick, about 1780, but there are so many possibilities, not least of which is that Hannah is interchangeable with Ann and Nancy. Has anyone seeking JONESes any hints to offer, please? Kind regards Joy
