    2. Joe Taylor
    3. Hi Joan, Are we related in some way? Edwin Pound's father, George, was the brother of my 2xgt grandfather, John Pound! However, although Edwin is in my tree, it is a branch I have not really researched much myself. Two other researchers that I have been in contact with over the years have done most of the work, and there is a tree going back to a Thomas Pound who married in Ludlow in 1665. The first of these contacts was back in 1999, Ann, in Australia, who had spent many many hours trawling through the parish register films at her local LDS Family History Centre. The second is John, in Canada, who is himself descended from Edwin Pound and who contacted me in 2005 through GenesReunited. John has Edwin Pound born on 21 Jun 1872 at Rochford, and christened there on 23 July 1875. I cannot site any sources. I will send you Ann & John's contact details off list, though they may be out of date. To be given an extensive tree can be a mixed blessing. It takes some of the fun out of researching it yourself. Also, I would be very interested to hear what other listers feel about the ethics of passing on other peoples research wholesale. Best wishes, Joe Joan Cowdell wrote: >Hello List > >Could anyone offer advice on a problem? 1. [WOR] Newspaper update for February with 19 more copies of Berrows
    2. Richard Heaton
    3. Apologies for any cross posting, but just incase its of interest for the Worcester list, ahead of Guild of One Name Studies talk I'm helping support (I'm covering finding your names in local newspapers) at Solihull next Saturday, I've added new 26 Newspapers Transcripts - with a number more in the pipeline for March. These include 19 more editions of Berrow's Worcester Journal (various dates 1756, 1757, 1762, 1763, and 1771), a paper which offered country wide news reports, and featured advertisements from not only Worcestershire, but Gloucestershire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, etc The breadth of coverage was always excellent, and they collectively represent a great splash of 18th Century Georgian life Including : a Funeral which went wrong at Bury St.Edmunds; Methodists dancing in Wales; an Accident with a Barge line; a Diet Drink; the New State Coach; a Fish-Woman who packed quite a punch; a slip down a well; objections to the Syrens of Soho-Square; adverts for all sorts of construction materials which had gone "walk about" used for building Droitwich Canal, and more seriously a number of carriage guns that had also "rolled away"; what to make with truffles; a find of Coins during the demolition of old London Bridge; an attempted escape by Gabriel Savoy; a nasty worm in Dublin; the servants and family of Thomas Hall of Kingston upon Thames who avoid poisoning; and a Matrimonial Complaint by a rather Grumpy Old Georgian Man. To locate the Page(s) of interest Use Freefind at : http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~dutillieul/index.html And once on the Page(s) use Ctrl F to locate the name(s) you are looking for Best Regards Richard Heaton

    1. [WOR] BRADLEY Family Interests
    2. Libby
    3. Hi List, I'm reposting my interests for Worcester, which is really on one family.... the BRADLEY family: Charles Edwin BRADLEY and Phoebe Ann BRADLEY (both born 1846 in Dudley) were married in 1870 in Stafford. (There were also 1st cousins once removed). Charles was the son on Simeon BRADLEY (1811) and Mary MOUNTFORD. Simeon was the son of John (abt 1770) and Mary. Phoebe was the daughter of John BRADLEY (1822) and Ruth NAYLOR. John was the son of Edward (1800) and Phebe JUKES. Edward was the son of John (abt 1770) and Mary. Charles Edwin and Phoebe BRADLEY had 7 children: Annie Martha (aka Pattie) BRADLEY Born: 14 Jul 1871 - Dudley, Worcester, England Charles Edwin Jnr BRADLEY Born: Abt 1872 - Dudley, Worcester, England Herbert Simeon BRADLEY Born: Oct-Dec 1873 - Dudley, Worcester, England John Arthur BRADLEY Born: Jan-Mar 1875 - Tipton, Stafford, England George Walter BRADLEY Born: Jul-Sep 1876 - Tipton, Stafford, England Mary Maude BRADLEY Born: 1878 - Tividale, Stafford, England William Albert BRADLEY Born: 29 Aug 1880 - Tiverdale, Stafford, England 1851 Census shows Phoebe living in Salop Street, Dudley; and in 1861 at 1 Himley Road, Dudley with her family. 1861 and 1871 Census shows Charles living at Tividale Hall, Staffordshire with his family. The 1881 Census shows Charles and Phoebe them living at Tividale Hall in Rowley Regis, Stafford. The Durham Mining Museum website www.dmm.org.uk shows the family owned a few mines in the 1870-80s: Mines 1869 SOUTH STAFFORDSHIRE and WORCESTERSHIRE Name, Location, Owner Dudley Port -Tipton - Amphlett and Bedford. Hopkins and Bradley. F Giles. Sutherland - Rowley Regis - Hopkins and Bradley. Tividale Hall - Rowley Regis - Hopkins and Bradley Tividale Hall New - Rowley Regis - Earl of Dudley. S Bradley and Co. Bradley Hall - Oldbury - S Bradley. Russells Hall - Dudley - Bradley and Co. Shut End - Dudley - John Bradley and Co. Mines of 1880 SOUTH STAFFORDSHIRE - WORCESTERSHIRE Tisidale Hall, Tipton, W. and C. E. Bradley. Wallbutts, Bilston, Bradley Brothers and Southan. Apparently, the mine(s) the family owned burnt down (?) and due to financial ruin (or whatever) Charles, Phoebe and their children left England and settled in Australia in 1887 . I would love to know if anyone else has a connection with the BRADLEY family. I would also like to know a bit more about Tividale Hall if possible. 3. Hello Christine, Wolverley [Civil] Parish covered a large area, and the Enumerator's description of his District would seem to indicate that he had to do a lot of walking to cover it! Your MOULDER family were actually in Portway Place, Cookley which still exists. At least, there's still a road of that name in Cookley on my current Street Map - but it doesn't make any mention of a pub there. [From Google's Maps & Satellite Picture it looks to be now exclusively residential - always assuming it's still in the same place!] My knowledge of the pubs in Cookley is meagre, but I only *know* of one (whose name I can't remember) roughly opposite the Post Office in the village centre. The chances are high that the Tinmans Arms (I agree your reading) was a comparatively-short-lived beerhouse - although I'd be happy to be proved wrong! 3. Barbara When the Register states " of Great Shelsey " it means that was where John was living , at the time of their marriage, it does mean he was born there ! I have checked some records I own for that area - ( Gt and Little Witley and Holt) and found - Burials at St Mary's & All Angels Great Witley . BRISCOE John 4 Sep 1817 aged 40yrs of Gt. Shelsey Also Briscoe Elizabeth of Gt Witley 29 June 1827 aged 43 years >From IGI John and Elizabeth appear to have had a son John, Baptised at Shelsey Beauchamp 18 Sept. 1815. The above doesn't assist you in locating John's Birth Location . I note besides Eldersfield, there are also Briscoe's in Strensham. 3. The burial for Elizabeth matches well with the baptism of Elizabeth PIPER 4 May 1784 at Great Witley (parents John & Mary). And there are 3 children for John & Elizabeth at Shelsley in the IGI: William BRISCOE 4 Apr 1811, Mary BRISCO 15 Oct 1812, John BRISCOW 18 Sep 1815. The children's names can sometimes be useful tie-ins with their grandparents, though they prove nothing of course.
