Being a new subscriber, I am hoping some kind list member can help me with how to obtain further information regarding a family member who died in Devizes. Dudley Albertus WRIGHT was born in Epsom,Surrey on Aug 28, 1874.He moved to France in the about 1892 and joined the French Foreign Legion. He married in France. He was the valet for the entertainer Maurice Chevalier and they travelled the world together. He had 4 children all born in France. His 2 eldest children Elizabeth born 1896 and Alfred born 1898 were residing in Brighton with their grandparents in 1901 and are listed as being born in France but are British subjects. At least 3 of his children lived in France and raised families there and died there. I have the death certificate for Dudley Albertus WRIGHT from Devizes. He died at St James Hospital on March 12, 1952 aged 77. His residence is given as South View (looks to be ROWDE, the writing is difficult to make out) Devizes Rd.The name and address of the informant is given as his son-in-law A.E. (again hard to make out) PERRETT or PERRELL. Since Dudley Albertus WRIGHT only had 2 daughters and the one lived and died in France we are assuming that AE Perrett must have been married to his eldest daughter Elizabeth Emma Wright and are also assuming that she must have stayed in England after she was living with her granparents in 1901. I would be interested to find out possible places where Dudley Albertus may have been buried in the area of Devizes and anything at all which would help regarding Elizabeth Emma WRIGHT and her husband AE PERRETT or PERRELL who are total brick walls.
