I have been researching my husband's family for 3yrs and have made some strong connections. We now have expanded our family by finding cousins in Yorkshire Eng. and Australia under our HOWGATE name. It is time now for me to search out my VENNELL family. While researching my husband's people I found he also has a VENNELL connection. I was totally blown away! I discovered his g-grandmother, RUTH VENNELL, b. 1847 in Trowbridge d. 1927 USA / Parents William and Eliza (Purnell) Vennell Now here is where it gets interesting: My g-grandfather, John Henry Vennell, b 1854 in Trowbridge d. 1904 USA / Parents William and Eliza (Purnell) Vennell Ruth Vennell married in 1870 to William RANDALL (b. 1845 in Trowbridge d. 1920 USA) Came to USA in 1893 Ruth came 1895 John Henry Vennell served in the Royal Navy (1881 census) came to USA about 1890's or earlier. He married Martha Long in the USA. b.1856 Eng. d. 1931 USA What I would like to find is when John Henry Vennell came to America. Can he be found on British census after 1881. Any information on other siblings? William Vennell b. 1837 came to USA with family in the 1880's Leah Vennell b. 1841 Married James HEWETT Rhoda Vennell This is all the information I have. I'd like to get a feel on how they lived, occupations, neighborhood, religion. I'd like to make more connections with the VENNELL, RANDALL, LONG and HEWETT. I have lived in Maine, USA all my life. My husband and I have been married for 35 yrs and have two "perfect" sons and a wonderful grand-daughter, 3yrs. I love finding out about our English families.
