    3. Hello folks Free Census now has about 8 and a half million census records online. One of the FC projects I run is the North Wiltshire project, covering Chippenham to Marlborough and northwards. The project has been running for about ten months and has some 30,000 records online. These records are from 1861, 71 & 91, but recently we have started uploading 1841 returns. We have about 30 people working on the project; all beavering away on behalf of present and future Wiltshire family historians. How about joining them? This is NOT rocket science - I send you a disc containing images of the returns and you transcribe them into a spreadsheet, which I also supply. A couple of hours twice a week and results come surprisingly quickly. If you don't like discs (and some people don't) and if you have a microfiche reader gathering dust, then the 1891 comes on microfiche. Something for everyone. Our aim is quite simple. To transcribe and place online, free-to- view, all the 19th century census returns for North Wiltshire. Once they are done, no one will have to pay to view a transcript again. Why not give it a whirl? Rgds Michael http://www.pope-genealogy.me.uk/nwocp.htm and http://medeschole.blogspot.com/
