Is it possible to check church registers for Kingston Deverill, 1880-1896, for births or deaths ? I'm trying to find out if my ggmother Jane Carpenter, born 1867, KD. had had any children before moving to Yorkshire. Also, I can't find a death for her. Are there any burial registers available from 1901 and later for KD. Thanks Janette

They won't be births and deaths but baptisms and burials and they'll be at the County Record Office unless someone has them on fiche or CD. > I'm trying to find out if my ggmother Jane Carpenter, born 1867, KD. had had > any children before moving to Yorkshire. Have you had a look on the 1891 and/or 1901 censuses? Either may give children. > Also, I can't find a death for her. Are there any burial registers available > from 1901 and later for KD. Burial registers have never stopped although the registers may still be with the incumbent if they are still in use. -- Charani (UK)
Another place you can see the parish registers is at your local LDS Family History Centre - you can find where this is on the www.familysearch.org site, which also has lists of all the records they have filmed. Kingston Deverill PRs available are as follows:- Title Parish registers, 1706-1982 Authors Church of England. Parish Church of Deverill-Kingston (Main Author) Notes Microfilm of original records in the Wiltshire County Record Office, Trowbridge. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Includes general register (baptisms, marriages, burials) 1706-1753; baptisms and burials 1754-1812; baptisms 1813-1981; marriages and banns 1793-1812; marriages 1813-1929; and burials 1813-1982.
