My gggg grandfather Joseph was the son of Robert and Mary WHEELER baptised 12 Apr 1741 in Berkley. BUT if he was the son of Robert and Mary KEMP married in Berkley 1716, how come they didn't have any children until daughter Alice in 1729? Did they have children elsewhere earlier, or iare his parents ANOTHER Robert and Mary, who married elsewhere? Or were there 'unreadable' entries in Berkley that might fill in the gaps?? Joseph's will was dated 9th June 1817, and his widow Ruth remarried to Jeremiah SINGER on January 14 1819 - but when did Joseph die?? I don't have a date the will was proven for testate. Joseph WHEELER's first marriage was to Ann WITHY on 11 June 1764 at Dilton, was she daughter of Anthony WITHY and Mary LANDSDOWN of Upton Scudamore? Apparently they had a son George in Dilton about 1740, does anyone have any knowledge of this family?? WAS Ruth AISHER, who married Joseph WHEELER 12 June 1803 at Dilton, then Jeremiah SINGER January 14 1819 at Rodden; the daughter of Thomas AISHER and Mary (nee Holt) of Market Lavington, baptised 23 May 1762?? My gg grandparents were William WHEELER and Martha WHEELER, married 18 March 1819 at Dilton, but whose daughter was Martha?? She was born circa 1793. William and Martha had a son Benjamin, baptised on November 28 1819, listed as 20 in the 1841 census - but that's the last I know of him. Where DID he go?? They also had a daughter Sarah, who married James Webb in Westbury on 12 July 1853, then apparently immigrated to Tasmania - according to an old, old, old family oral history, but there's no record of them there.
