Hello Mike, Surname spellings, I have the surname WERRELL in my family tree spelt 29 different ways in baptisms/ marriage and burial registers, my people couldn't read or write so the vicar etc. wrote it as they heard it, even my 2 x grt. grandfather Thomas MEADS when he married in 1806 is in the parish register as Thomas MAIDON.
