    3. Good Afternoon All I hope you'll forgive me but as a dumb Australian who gets very confused with English parishes, I am wondering if someone can tell me the parish name in relation to the town of Oare, Wiltshire and also for a place called Fyfield near Marlborough. It feels like I've been all over the net and just got myself hopelessly confused. Thank you. Anne Beechworth, Vic. Aust. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. 2. Hello Anne There are two Fyfields near Marlborough. See: - http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/WIL/Fyfield/index.htm Oare is a village between Marborough and Pewsey. It does not seem to be included in GENUKI but I am sure that there is a prish church in the village. 3. Ann Be careful about "Fyfield" as it once referred to a certain type of field, and there are at least three Fyfields near Marlborough. This initially caused me a lot of confusion. I think the biggest of these three Fyfields is the one on the A4 and its church is St Nicholas which dates back to 1324. 3. Anne I had the same problem with Fyfield. Just as an aside, I found my Stagg forebears listed in the 1861 census in Rotherhithe, South London as originating from Five Fields, Wiltshire. A case of the enumerator trying to make sense of an unfamiliar accent I would guess. I found them eventually in Fyfield, near Milton Lilbourne.
