Although I am not of this faith, I suspect that only females or males appear in some IGI parish listings because those were added to the IGI when LDS (Mormon) posthumous baptisms were carried out by LDS members, male or female as appropriate. And perhaps the "other half" either has not yet been done or has not been added to the IGI for some other reason. These "half" listings "seem to/might" predate the LDS effort, much appreciated, to put complete transcriptions in the IGI, apparently with/without the accomplishment of the LDS religious duties. The IGI, at least originally, was only an index of deceased persons who had received LDS "ordinances" but with the adding of complete transcriptions has departed, apparently, from the original intent or may still be adding only those who have gone through its procedures. If anyone wishes to correct/expand on the above, please do! Sally
Im not sure if you are talking about the IGI microfiche indexes or IGI on the net. I have heard that the IGI on line is not complete and it changes periodically and sometimes its best to go back to the fiche. I've just stumbled across an interesting example of this - Corsley baptisms for females only. There are 911 entries, many names familiar from lists I'm on around the West Wiltshire, North Eastern Somerset areas. There are no details of the submitter, only the Batch number C013941. They are great to browse, by putting just the batch number and 'British Isles' in the search form on the IGI. It's not a full list of Corsley female baptisms, as there are no WHEELER's and I know some were born in Corsley.... we mustn't have had a member of the LDS church unite their ancestors forever by a covenant!
