    3. There are five William Barretts born in Wiltshire in the 1891 of about the right age. There are four in the 1901. Three of these are living in the same place in both censuses and are not yours. This means yours in the 1891 is either born Trowbridge 1864 or Aldbourne 1867. The Aldbourne one is also there in the 1871, but now born 1864. The other disappears but could be the one in 1871 born Stratton St Margaret 1865. Free BMD is incomplete for this period but you could try another BMD site to see if you can find a birth. I should think that continuing with this sort of analysis should eventually track him down. Is there anyone out there who knows either Stratton St Margaret or Aldbourne who can tell us if the placename Rushton means anything locally in either of them?
