It is useful to me as a process of elimination because I now doubt whether Joseph Barnes living at The Shambles in Chippenham (1841) is mine. Do you have further census info on him and does he continue in the Shoe trade? The Joseph Barnes on my tree, having married in Chippenham in 1842, becomes a Beer Seller by the time of the 1871 census. Unfortunately, I cannot find him in 1861 but in the 1851 census I think he is a Labourer living with his family in West Ham.
