Hello folks I am new to this list but am a regular Devon-L subscriber. Elizabeth Clifford of Borscombe married John Soper at Chudleigh, Devon, 2 Aug 1574. She was born in Borscombe about 1550. I am trying to prove my ancestry to Elizabeth Clifford of Borscombe, through her marriage to John Soper who was *probably* the great great grandfather of my ancestor Sarah Soper. Elizabeth was the fourth child and daughter of Henry Clifford of Borscombe, and Elizabeth (probably HUNGERFORD). There is a Mormon ancestor file on the IGI which suggests that her husband John SOPER also came from Borscombe (or perhaps elsewhere in Wiltshire). However I believe he was probably from Devon. I need to confirm or disprove his baptism in Borscombe. If sks has access to the registers for Borscombe or has any Borscombe or Wiltshire Sopers from the 16th century I would be very grateful for your help.
