My 3x great grandfather John Harrison b.1829 Northumberland was a furnaceman who travelled throughout England and Scotland in the mid 1800's. Between the years 1851-1853 he was in Swindon, Wiltshire, noted on his marriage certificate. Was there a new furnace set up at this time in Swindon or new industry which needed either furnace expertise or fluid steel manufacture?? Any help would be greatfully appreciated.
