    3. Hi, Eliz Can you inform me of the christian name of the Phillips you located in Steeple Ashton, please? Thanks Haether From: "Eliz Hanebury" edhanebury@zoominternet.net To: ENG-WILTSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Saturday, August 26, 2006 3:23 AM Subject: Re: [ENG-WIL] 1830 Wiltshire Directory He was not in Devizes in the directory, Coldharbour isn't listed and only one example of the name Steeple Ashton. Which may lead to the idea he was a farmer by 1830 and they aren't listed in these directories. Eliz From: "Heather Smith" Hello, Eliz | I would be very grateful if you could check for my William Phillips he appears to have started out as a taylor in Devizes born 1756 in Little Cheverill. | William died on 30 December 1844 at Coldharbour Steeple Ashton where he was recorded as a farmer. He also leased the Toll Gate in Coldharbour. 3. Hello Heather, Forgive me leaping into this thread, but I used to live in Steeple Ashton between 1970 and 1983 and there was a local farmer called John PHILLIPs there then. I don't know whether he/his family would still be there now, or whether it is even of any interest to you, but I just thought it worth saying. I don't know what the name of the farm is/was - in those days it was on the right as you went out of the village, if travelling away from Trowbridge. Hope this helps, Jan White (Glastonbury, Somerset) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Heather Smith" <heather.smith8@virgin.net> To: <ENG-WILTSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, August 26, 2006 8:12 AM Subject: [ENG-WIL] 1830 Wiltshire Directory - Phillips > Hi, Eliz > > Can you inform me of the christian name of the Phillips you located in > Steeple Ashton, please? > > Thanks > > Haether > > From: "Eliz Hanebury" edhanebury@zoominternet.net > To: ENG-WILTSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com > Sent: Saturday, August 26, 2006 3:23 AM > Subject: Re: [ENG-WIL] 1830 Wiltshire Directory > > > He was not in Devizes in the directory, Coldharbour isn't listed and only > one example of the name Steeple Ashton.
