If you mean the certificates then you can only buy them individually from the GRO at a cost of 7GBP each. You can't buy them any other way. http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/ http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ Alternatively you could wait until the DoVE project is up and running, which should be sometime next year if they are running to schedule. This will give the mother's maiden name from 1837 onwards, spouse's surname from 1837 onwards and age at death from 1837 onwards. <http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/aboutus/lookingahead/Digitisation_of_Vital_Events.asp> If you mean the parish registers then you would need to contact either the Wiltshire Record Office and/or Wilthsire Family History Society to see if they have any registers filmed/transcribed and available on either miche or CD > Can someone also tell me why sooo many people died so young in the > mid 1800's as I didn't seem to find this while researching my > fathers pioneer ancestors in Canada. Part of the answer to that will depend on where your ancestors were and what their occupations were. The Industrial Revolution probably had something to do with it as well.
Many years ago I was looking at purchasing microfiche Census records I could have had the lot for 20,000 pounds!!! Later tho I think they were selling of in batches eg county sets. I dont know about GRO indexes but as most of the Family History Ctres at LDS churches seem to have complete sets they must be available. If you have an LDS Library close by it might be worth asking them how to go about buying the indexes in which you are interested. Just an idea regards daphne of Papatoetoe NZ daphne.guthrie@xtra.co.nz Researching areas: Medway, Kent;Wiltshire;Hampshire:Dorset; Sussex;Essex & Norfolk England.
