    3. Dear List, A cousin of mine recently went to a talk in Swindon about the suffragette movement. At the end of the talk the speaker's wife came in dressed as a suffragette & he said, "This is Swindon's famous suffragette Edith Bessie NEW." My cousin was amazed as Edith is on our NEW tree & we didn't know she was famous. The last info we had was the 1901 Census when she was a Board School Teacher in Swindon. We are connected to this branch of the NEW family through Edith's mother Isabella FRAMPTON. My gt grandmother Martha NOAD nee FRAMPTON was Isabella's aunt. Isabella married Frederick James NEW 3rdQ 1872 but she was a widow by 1881 as Frederick was killed on the railway line. We are also connected to Frederick NEW's older brother Joseph through marriage into our NOAD & TARRANT families. I googled Edith Bessie NEW & found a lovely lot of info about her & also a photograph.I have looked for her death & this may be her as the age fits. NEW Edith B aged 73 Liskeard 7a 105 If anyone is researching the Swindon NEW family I hope you will get in touch. I will also be pleased to hear from anyone interested in the Suffragette Movement.
