Good morning from the great State of Maine, USA, I've been watching this in query, back and forth. The name WILLIAM LONG is in my family tree so I perked right up. I do not believe they are one in the same for my WILLIAM LONG was from Hilperton, Wiltshire, born about 1782. (His wife Mary Long b. 1788) He did have a son William, b.abt 1825 but I do not see a son Henry! I first find mine on the 1841 census along with family. His son, James can be found with his new bride Mary Ann (Pike) Long, my g-g-grandparents. This is where I picked up the story, James and Mary Ann Long had a dau. Martha Long who married John Henry Vennell from Trowbridge. Vennell is my maiden name. I thought if in your travels, looking for your William Long you may have some info on mine. I couldn't let it rest without at least checking. I have found so much info from others on this list. You are all GREAT. Thank you and wishing you success in your search. It is difficult, I was really after information regarding William Long who married Caroline Markey in 1843. He was the brother of Henry who married Jane Ingham. If you have any information regading Richard Long that would be wonderful and I can easily swap you what information that I have, it may not be much but hopefully could fill in some holes for you. Looking forward in hearing from you again. Longs from Maddington (Peter Lennard) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Message: 1 Date: Sat, 27 Sep 2008 18:38:46 -0000 From: "Peter Lennard" <[email protected]> Subject: [ENG-WILTSHIRE] Longs from Maddington To: <[email protected]> Message-ID: <[email protected]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Colleen Back in July I sent a message to the List re Shrewton and Maddington Longs. But didnt receive a response. My query was regardingh JOHN/WILTSHIRE LONG who married ANN MARTIN in 1848. He was the son of JOHN and MARY (WILTSHIRE) LONG who married in 1798 and was a brother to your HENRY. It appears all the LONGs of Shrewton and Maddington were related going back to RICHARD LONG of Shrewton and ANN CRIPPS of Maddington who married in Winterbourne Stoke in 1754. As I believe someone else has pointed out no MARY in 1790. But one in 1783 Best of luck Vera ------------------------------ To contact the ENG-WILTSHIRE list administrator, send an email to [email protected] To post a message to the ENG-WILTSHIRE mailing list, send an email to [email protected] __________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word "unsubscribe" without the quotes in the subject and the body of the email with no additional text.
