Hi everyone, I am hoping to find info on this family. 1841 census Crickmay, John 35 Carpenter Jane 35 Edward 20 John 15 Eliza 15 James 12 George 10 Jemina 5 Charles 5 Elizabeth 4 William 2 Jane 4m I believe that Edward 20 married my gggrandmother in Lambeth, in 1853,Eliza Snelling. he was then a private with the Grenadier Guard and was wounded Nov 5, 1854 in the battle of Inkermann. He died I believe in 1862 in Bethnal Green.

Hi Susan - not sure if you have had a response but according to an online tree, Edward may be the son of Charles CRICKMAY and Jane SMART whose marriage is recorded on IGI as 1820 in Hindon, Wiltshire. Given the names of the children of John and Jane, John may be a brother or uncle. The same tree tentatively gives Edward's death as 1865, St Margarets. The Bethnal Green death in 1862 appears to have another entry on the same reference number - Anne Blanche CRICKMAY - not sure what this implies. You may have all this already - do you have your folk in other censuses? I don't see Edward after 1841 so far and cannot find Eliza in 1861 either. I could not see any reference to Edward on the National Archives site but there might be a military record there for him which is not yet mentioned online. Sorry not to be more help.
