Hi All Question, some information came to light about an ancester way back in the 1500's. Seems a Robert Sims born 1555 in (Lacock,Laycock) wiltshire married to Agnes? Father John born about 1540? Dates dont match or he was a very young father,Would anyone know if records from that time would be still available? Would i need to go to this Lacock and sift through them? Regards David
Lacock is a very attractive and interesting place to visit, but you should not expect to find any of its ancient records there. They will have been deposited in the county archives at the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre in Chippenham. Its website is: http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/history-centre.htm I made a quick search for Lacock parish registers on the National Archives website at: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/searchthearchives/default.htm?source=searcharchives The earliest I could see were from 1559, but you may want to search more thoroughly, or ask at the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre.
