Hi Fellow Listers I am researching my STOKES family and have hit a brick wall. I have Ambrose STOKES born about 1834, baptised 18 May 1834 Urchfont. His parents were William and Ann STOKES. William was born about 1804 & his wife Ann about 1811. I have found them on the 1851 census. William is age 47 and Ann age 40. Unfortunately it seems that my trail ends here. Ambrose is not a particularly common name so I thought that I had located William's parents as there is another Ambrose STOKES on the 1851 census for Melksham. This one was born abt 1791 as he is 60 on the census. Unfortunately this one also has a son William age 20. I have also found a baptism for this William STOKES 12 Sep 1830 at Melksham. His parents were Ambrose & Elizabeth STOKES. I haven't been able to find anything for the older William born about 1804. Is anyone else researching this family? Is there a SKS who can shed any light on this family? Any help will be much appreciated. Alison
